    Product feature
    1. Choosing your judo uniform
Judo is a combat sport that uses grappling techniques. The young judoka has to grab their opponent's uniform when attempting to throw them to the ground, and possibly immobilize them. This is why the uniform must be particularly tear resistant, with reinforced sections in areas of strain or friction.
    2. What size should you choose for a child?
The size of the uniform you choose will depend on your child's height (from 100 cm to 150 cm). In keeping with tradition, the uniforms are made from cotton and have a natural tendency to shrink a few centimetres during the first three washes. This is why we recommend choosing a uniform which is 5 cm to 10 cm bigger than your child. For example, if your child is 133 cm, choose a 140 cm uniform
    3. What size should you choose for an adult?
Your height will determine the size of your uniform (from 160 cm to 200 cm). In keeping with tradition, the uniforms are made from cotton and have a natural tendency to shrink a few centimetres during the first three washes. This is why we recommend choosing a uniform which is at least 5 cm bigger than your normal size. For example, if you are 174 cm tall, choose a 180 cm uniform
    4. Which uniform for which level?
A child who is new to judo or has been doing judo for one to two years should choose a uniform in cotton or polycotton (200 g/sqm), which is both soft and durable. A judoka who has been doing judo for two years (yellow or orange belt) or who is starting competitions should choose a rice-grain weave uniform which is particularly tear-resistant and designed to withstand gripping. The polycotton composition (350 g/sqm) helps prevent excessive shrinking and dries quickly.
    5. Care advice
The uniform should be left out to air after each use. Regular washing will help keep your uniform white. Use cold water for the first few washes. After that, wash at no more warmer 30°C.
    6. The benefits of judo
Judo is a very physical sport: kids expend a lot of energy in a single session. It is also a well-rounded sport. Because the aim is to control the weight of their opponent, children use and strengthen the full body. This is also a psychological sport. It helps make both mind and spirit more flexible. Incidentally, "judo" means "path to flexibility".

    • Adult Judo Suit

      30/08/2016
      Amy (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
This is a decent suit, jacket is well made and durable.
However, the sleeves are much too wide and made grips difficult.
The trousers also are much smaller than expected for a 160cm and were tight.
All in all, not bad for the money but some design flaws.
Price was ok, jacket is well made
Trousers tight, sleeves too wide on jacket
    • Suit - Excellent suit, £ - competitive,1yr return?

As the head of a club, training several times per week and involved in running gradings:

I need a suit that is built for comfort; where the jacket will wrap round an average 40+ yr old waistline.

I need a suit that is built to take repeated use; being used and washed 3 times per week without any issues.

I need a suit that will withstand heavy use whilst practicing judo; being pulled around the judo mat without fear of the stitching coming apart and an arm falling off.

I also need a suit that I can recommend to my club members with a competitive price tag, with no delivery charge, where they can check the size of the suit on collection, where they can return the suit if there is any issues (even for up to 1yr).

I was asked to try out this suit a couple of months ago and it's hardly been off my back, apart from getting washed and dried.

It is comparable to the Blitz student suit, but the jacket has a bigger overlap which is better for those of us with a medium sized waistline. The trousers appear to be lighter weight, but still hard wearing enough - with reinforced knees. The suit is slightly cream or an off white colour, rather than brilliant white, but that is absolutely fine. The jacket has taped seams to reinforce some of the seams. Also, the suit has been washed many times without showing signs of shrinkage, which is a surprise.

All in all, I'm quite impressed. For approx. £20 I can have a suit which satisfies my needs.

a comfortable and tough suit, with a 1 yr return policy should any issues arise...

      Excellent!

Ordered on line, click and collect worked perfectly. Good value for money and suitable for regular training sessions. Consider buying 1 size larger as normal to shrink during first couple of washes.
Good quality, heavy duty jacket, lighter bottoms
